Jakarta Parekraf Hosts Fam Trip to PIK

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) Tourism Board, organized a familiarization trip (fam trip).

The event was attended by top tour operators and travel agents from Malaysia, along with representatives from Jakarta's tour operator and travel agent associations.

Jakarta Parekraf Agency Head, Andhika Permata, said the activity aims to strengthen tourism connectivity between Jakarta and Malaysia.

"It's also to introduce the great potential of Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) as Jakarta's newest top destination," he said in a written statement, Saturday (6/28).

He explained that the one-day fam trip involved dozens of participants, including 15 representatives from Indonesian travel associations and six well-known travel agencies from Malaysia.

Among them were Popular Express Travel Sdn Bhd, World Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Hayu Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Al Furqan Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Pin Sing Travel & Tours (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, and Mindah Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd.

"The trip started with exploring PIK. Participants were invited to visit various modern lifestyle tourism facilities and stunning architecture in Pantai Indah Kapuk area," he mentioned.

After exploring the area, the activity continued with a "Networking Session" to foster collaboration and open business opportunities between Indonesian and Malaysian tour operators. The main event was a gala dinner and stunning entertainment.

Participants enjoyed a Water Fountain Show with light, water, and music performaces, followed by the musical drama "Batavia Tales", a cultural performance that tells the story of Jakarta’s rich history and multiculturalism in a modern, engaging way.

"We’re very excited to welcome our fellow tour operators from Malaysia and Indonesia on this fam trip," he added.

He emphasized that Malaysia is a key tourism market for Jakarta due to geographical proximity and cultural ties.

"Through this fam trip, we want to show how Jakarta is innovating and offering exciting new travel experiences, especially in PIK area," he revealed.

Head of Marketing and Attractions at Jakarta Parekraf Agency, Sherly Yuliana, explained that initiatives like this are vital to promoting Indonesia’s top destinations, including Jakarta, to international markets.

"The hands-on experience that travel agents gain will be a strong selling point when creating tour packages for their clients," she concluded.
